First Day of School

August 26th was the first day of school for Shawn. He’s in first grade now and at a new school! He’s a Twin Bridges Falcon now. I’m so excited to have him at the school where I work. The day before I took him over to see where his classroom was and his locker. Outside each classroom is a banner that tells what classroom it is. Shawn ran down the hall and yelled,
“Mom I found it!”
“Nope, that’s 2nd grade, go down one more. You’ll be in 1st Grade.”
“No I’m not! I’m in 2nd!”
“You just finished Kindergarten and after Kindergarten is 1st grade.”
“Nu-uh! I’M IN 2ND GRADE!”
“ Shawn you realize that it goes K, 1,2,3 not just 1,2,3 right?”
“NO! I did NOT know that! Why would it start with a letter?! I already did my first year of school and I’m in 2nd!”

Once we got that straightened out he was happy to know that he was in 1st grade. He loves his teacher, Mrs. Paden, because she’s young, not old. He loves that he can ride his bike to school and lunch recess is his favorite part of the day.

I must say that I love being back at school too. I have a fun schedule and keep busy. It’s great to pass the 1st graders in the hall and get a big smile and a little wave from Shawn.

What a cute kid. Shawn I am glad you learned that it is silly they started out with a K. I agree 1st grade should have been the first year.
