Shawn and his Dad

Some snapshots, courtesy of Rod, of what he and Shawn have been doing this summer while I’ve been at work. I work with a really great woman who happens to be a single mom. She tells me all the time what a keeper Rod is and how great it is that Shawn has a Mom and a Dad that take time to do things with him. I know that Shawn loves the attention that Rod gives him and I’m grateful for such a wonderful husband who is also an incredible Daddy!

Shawn loved playing T-Ball and has really gotten in to baseball. After watching The Sandlot several times he wanted to learn how to slide. Here’s a clip Rod took of Shawn perfecting his
home run slide. Notice the weed is his base.



Rod has been teaching Shawn about the horses and how to ride. I met up with them one night after work and was very impressed that Shawn was not the least bit timid around them or about getting on Miss Dee. He knows how to “get her going, make her turn both ways, and how to make her stop”. I know that there are kids Shawn’s age that do this all the time but he’s MY little boy and I was so excited to see him be able to do all that.

Like Rod, Shawn loves to build! This is just one of his creations. He was so excited to tell me that he had to use the step stool to put the last few blocks on.
